Meet the volunteers of the Laguna Straw House who are ready to get back to work!
Progress
The Laguna Straw House is currently 85% complete. All major aspects of construction have been inspected and signed off by the City of Laguna Beach. All that’s left is final inspections; finish color coats of plaster, tile work, wall finishes (sheetrock & paneling), deck waterproofing, door installations and other cosmetic aspects.
Construction
We have a team ready to complete the project, which now only requires finish-work as all intensive construction elements are completed.
Materials
Most materials to complete the building of the house, including plumbing fixtures and appliances, are currently stored on the property. Additional materials to be purchased are minimal.
Ownership
We currently own 25% of the property. To prevent the catastrophic erasure of the project, we must immediately purchase the remaining 75% of the property from the other individuals who own shares of the land. Obtaining full title to the property will allow us to continue as a non-profit community organization.
